Users are anyone that comes to visit your site. There are two main types of user:

Anonymous users. These are people who visit your site but do not log in. An example is the general public.

Authenticated users. These are people who have created a user account and are logged into the site. An example might be a member of your organisation.

All users on the site can be given Roles. Roles control what a user can do on the site.

Modules add functionality to your site. For example, if you wanted to add blogs to your site, you would install and configure the Blog module.
